Aadyo was a young man when it happened. When his elder brother sent him into the fields to check on the crops. Thinking this was just another of his chores, Aadyo paid it no mind.
Had he paid a little more attention he would have noticed that this was not his families field, but rather one that was forbiddion to enter, do to the monsterous wolf that lived in the forest on the otherside.
The wolf was a son of The Night, and it kept away from the village on a truce that none of the villgers entered the Field.
Of course, Fearing that someone may accidently enter the field, the Mayor told the villgers it was forbiddion, that it had become a Monument to a fallen hero, and was now considered Holy ground. Many of the child did not know why the field was forbiddion, only that it was.
So it was bound to happen someday. Someone would enter the field. Either a child on a dare to prove himself, or by simple accident.
Thus Aadyo walked into the field and became lost. Though he tried to go back the way he had come he could not find his way out of the field. Nor could he enter the forest. 2 days of being lost, Aadyo found the giant wolf. Angry, and snarling, Fenrir, pinned the yougn man down and glared into bright yellow eyes.
"Has that mayor of yours lost his mind, Does he think he can get away with this?"
"Get away with what?"
"Entering my fields! Years ago we made this agreement. What are you doing here? Come to slay me!" The wolf's teeth were inches from Aadyo's throat.
"No! No, i promise you, i-i am lost. My brother sent me here, but i realize that this is not my families field. I know nothing of an agreement with our mayor!"
"hm."The giant head tilted, contempled the child's, for to it Aadyo was nothing more then a babe, words. Finally he decided they must be truth. "So your brother has betrayed you. and your village. But i have a plan."
"I don't wish to hurt my brother."
"Loyalitly like that will suit your purpose in this ploy of mine." Fenrir grinned a wolf's grin. "but nothing will be hurt, for i too am bound by a Promise made long ago, by someone more caring then that Leader of yours!"
It was then that Aadyo noticed the chain about the giant wolf's neck. "No one will get hurt?"
"At the risk of beng furred alive, no one will get hurt." The Wolf turned it's head, now that it was calm, it was a very beautful creature. "Nor am i a fool, i know these laws, i have seen the pyre's bulit on the edge of the field, and what they do to those who wander to close."
This mystified Aadyo. "Pyres."
"It seems that lies are your leader's  ally. Yes. But do not worry about those. Pain and death will be a little worry to you."
Still Hesitating Aadyo asked "Then what do i do?"
"It's very simple."

The Village was dark when Aadyo got back, with Fenrir's help he had gotten out of the village. He had not run back home to his brother, for Aadyo knew he wasn't there. He would be bosting to the village of how his foolish little brother had wandered into the Forbiddion fields. That he was now likely lost, or dead, and if not, then he would not return to face punishment.
It was with only little fear that Aadyo walked into the village center. A wolf's tooth around his neck. A symbol of Fenrir's promise.
"I will give this to you," and he spat on the ground, a broken tooth lay there. "As a mark of this promise. I am loyal to those who desearve it."
Aadyo trusted Fenrir. The chain about it's neck gave proof that this creature knew honor, and it bore no scars of breaking it's promise not to harm others. Beyound deer and elk in the forests and it's fields. His brother's golden eyes were wide with shock and the Mayor looked ready to faint.
"Aadyo!" He screeched, "How could you enter the Forbiddion fields?!" White showed around his eyes and he looked quite mad.
"I knew Nothing of them being Forbiddion! And you haven't told us anyhting about the Wolf!"
"Wolf! You have gone mad, boy. There is no wolf." The Mayor laughed Hysterically. "That field is the resting grounds of a fallen hero! Scared to us! and you have set foot there."
Aadyo could have grinned, if he did not know what was going to happen. "There is a wolf," He was not shouting but his voice carried unnaturally. Perhaps a power of the wolf's tooth. "and, If you chose to believe me, then go return to your homes with your families! For he is coming. Our leader," Aadyo didn't immedialty notice that he had not said Mayor. "Has made an agreement with this wolf not to enter his fields, but feels wronged that we have been so lied to! It has promised to harm none! Please listen and go."
The Mayor only laughed agian. "The boy has been on his own for 4 days! He is surely ill! a giant wolf! and none of our hunters have seen this beast, surely it can not exist. Arrest him."
Still, Aadyo was not afraid. He merely stood his ground, he did not fight the guards. What he said was truth. He nothing to fear, even from The Night itself. "The wolf does exist and ages ago made a promise with Kekeru. It would harm none, as long as the Village left it in peace. So Kekeru promised to tell of the wolf, so the villgers would not be scared of it. But let it live it's life in peace, as it has always wanted to. You," Aadyo raised a hand and pointed at the village mayor, his eyes burning yellow in the darkness, "Have broken that promise, and it is you who will pay, Leader."
The mayor waited not a moment more. He took from his man a bow, and sent an arrow through Aadyo's gleaming eye. An eye that totured the man, for it demanded the truth and almost burned with the accustion of lying.
Thus Aadyo was betrayed by his brother, By his village and by his people. Fenrir kept his promise. When Aadyo's body was hung from a Pyre, to be burned, but for now a warning, Fenrir saw it and called to his father. The Wolf's song and The Night have always been one.
The Night gave Aadyo, marked with a Tooth of it's favorite child, a new chance. The boy's soul was given a new body, to become one of the Night's child, a lethal black bird with bright yellow eyes. A foreteller of misfortune, and If it sound cry then the Wolf will come.

Thus is why the Wolf follows the Raven.
This is my first of 17 fables for my Story Lunatorae. I really like this one and would really appreciate what you guys think of it.

Aadyo is a name i thought of and it means Betrayed. I actually almost wrote a story once about Aadyo-it was different then this, somewhat, but never did it.

Anyway, The Wolf isn't the bad guy-yay.
